Image for the poem Mistress of the dawn

Mistress of the dawn

my stars weep
they see you through misted eyes
goodbye to the dawn
who first woke me

I will slumber in my ignorance
stand in my defiance
the stars may cry
I will not

I will create a god
from my imaginations
one who is kind and loyal
lusting the hell in me
while taming the haughty

he alone knows me
this conjured deity
he is a mortal still in his infancy
evoving and growing
in strength even now

someday I will have a being of worth
to bring me into submission
for now I am Mistress of this verse
of all the universes

alone in her discontent
searching the heavens
and the underworld below
for a spark of recognition
in the eyes of another
