Story Poem, Nr.03 — An Angel Visiting
It was a tranquil morning and
quite nothing came to me
no inspiration landed free
no nothing could I feel
a kind of state that merely “is”
some tasks that need be done
to boil the kettle, feed the cat
and cut the breakfast buns
no high or low disturbed my mind
it all seemed rather flat
no awkward stuff to contemplate
or question where it’s at
when suddenly the doorbell rang
an angel stood and said
“we’ve got a job for you to do
to raise the living-dead”
“That’s fine” I winced “please do come in
can hear the kettle’s ready”
and he said “no, I’d best be off
I’ve given you the message”
“O.K, bye-bye” I closed the door
to pour a cup for me
and sat down slowly on my chair
then let my mind run free
I thought it’s not a question of
a story with a moral
which you extract, hang on the wall
then junk the story’s middle
but rather it’s that we’re the tale
and play the many roles …
today an angel visiting
was simply one of those.
