Anthology

 
In my anthology of poetry I will include
poems by forgotten flowers, short fat trees
lost rocks and the unsung heroes  
of plankton and edaphon microbes
 
I shall also travel far to find lone wolves  
scribbling in the winter snow
and half-crazed scorpions tracing lines
in unknown languages of the desert sands
 
On Fridays I shall visit pubs to sample
the unique words typed on artisan beer bottles
and examine the patterned punctuation
on the dart-board hiding in the corner
 
The ISBN will be provided by the lottery
and matching bar-code by Uncle Ernie -
front cover-design by yours-truly
and layout done by soldier ants
 
It might not be a best-seller but
I hope it’ll be a truly different book
one prized by both insiders and the homeless -
and remembered as the one that shook.
