Temple in the Woods
underground the forest grows
through roots from trees with fungi flows
all that's needed, mixed with light
to survive another night
trees are patient, trees are calm
trees are beings in whose arms
we're embraced just passing through
oxygen, they give too
ferns and moss, the undergrowth
slugs and bugs together both
populate the seldom seen
in all those places where we've been
walking on the forest trails
watching squirrels flicking tails
listening to the ravens' calls
and dripped upon as water falls
from the rain which fell last night
stirring mushrooms out of sight
stirring feelings, fantasies
in our minds we're on our knees
in a temple worshipping
the oneness which we are within
up above and down below
when we come and when we go
through roots from trees with fungi flows
all that's needed, mixed with light
to survive another night
trees are patient, trees are calm
trees are beings in whose arms
we're embraced just passing through
oxygen, they give too
ferns and moss, the undergrowth
slugs and bugs together both
populate the seldom seen
in all those places where we've been
walking on the forest trails
watching squirrels flicking tails
listening to the ravens' calls
and dripped upon as water falls
from the rain which fell last night
stirring mushrooms out of sight
stirring feelings, fantasies
in our minds we're on our knees
in a temple worshipping
the oneness which we are within
up above and down below
when we come and when we go
