I bought you strawberries
Since our lips parted only 5 days ago,
my heart has been the most vulnerable.
For ten months I have craved your love and affection,
but as soon as you offer it all I need is protection.
My love is too deep or too weak for your soul,
but your love for me is as dark as coal.
One day you care and the next you do not,
you keep me caged away like a baby in a cot.
Your love is unfair and it reaches me in waves,
you take all you can get all you leave me with is change.
I buy you strawberries and you offer to pay,
but my heart beats for you so I push your hand away.
And finally as your heart beats for another,
mine fades away.
Because the hope of you,
kept me alive another day. X
