EVERLASTING
We are all but mortal, as time does reveal,
So filled with illusion, from death do we steal.
Each lifetime a journey, begining to end,
Each caught in a lie that we try to defend.
A drop in the ocean, a blink of an eye,
No sooner a welcome, then kiss me goodbye.
My loves, my romances, my pains count for none,
Just sorrow and loss in the hearts I have won.
Yet years long from now, with my life out of time,
So much will be left in my writings and rhyme.
Emotions will stir, bring a smile or a tear,
My message and meanings abundantly clear.
Begone be my body, my head and my heart,
As all things must end, until death do us part.
Be fooled not, to think that I rest well in peace,
For living no more, is my final release.
In poetic works, my existance will dwell,
For readers anew, there's a story to tell.
Give thanks to my being, my living, my past,
For here in these words will my soul everlast.
