people in general prefer to see the illness or the disability rather than the person even among the so-called caring professions you are so right  :-)))

Putting on a clinical hat here:    
 
If someone is deliberately withholding, it can be considered a ‘toxic-normal’ habit and tactic used by Narcipathic, dysfunctional types to manipulate and work their funky head games.    
   
A toxic withholder ( because there are healthy forms of withholding ),  may retain communication ( compassion, praise, et al ) to gain a modicum of control or impress a specific (and often malefic) affect on you.  
   
Your energy becomes so focused on what you did or are doing wrong,  confused over the lack of support, maybe even hurt over their behaviour,  you become entrapped in a whirlwind of deception.  You subconsciously seek means of approval and the cycle develops.    
   
Here's hoping you see the pattern of being used as supply, my friend, and focus on cultivating healthier areas of your life and non-toxic relationships.

I am not sure I get the thrust of your comments - I feel no confusion, it is a fact that the so-called caring professions have abandoned me to my fate - I get no support at all, with the physical or the mental these are just facts in my experience.

and I disagree - I am fucked up, that's not to say I can't be unfucked up, anything is possible (maybe)

I am trying to ditch toxic relationships in the real world but that means virtually everyone including family - no mean feet  (lol) sorry that last comment tickled me :-))))))
