The Day I Married You

I had a dream the other day of our wedding day
You had on a blue black suit and a purple tie
You blue eyes gleamed in the candle light
Above our heads were Christmas lights
All our loved ones surrounded us, smiling
Seated underneath stars on either side
You had tears in your eyes as I walked toward
I knew that I didn't look like I normally did
My hairs waves had been turned to curls
My head circled with my favorite flowers
Bachelor buttons, daisies and babies breath
My dress was a simple white sundress
I walked toward you, my heart feeling
As if it would burst out as a firework would
You were mine and I was yours, it was perfect
I barely heard what the preacher had to say
For I was lost in your eyes as their instructions
Were said, I lifted the spoons of candle sand
Taking turns to fill up the bottle, I grinned
The symbolism pleased us both so much
Layers of blue and purple candle sand all
Contained in a bottle we had both wanted
Our lives intertwined and contained by our love
After the bottle was filled we exchanged rings
My ring was silver with an opal embedded in it
Inside was inscribed your name, my loves name
Your ring was silver as well, my name on the inner part
The preacher hadn't even finished saying the words
When our lips met and the sound of our families cheered
You grabbed my hand and held it up laughing with me
