When my Father was in hospice dying from bladder cancer and Alzheimers, my sister turned his impending death into a circus. She stood over him on his bed, shoving a tube down his nose to suck out the fluid "naturally" building up in his lungs, while saying ridiculous things to my mother such as, "Stat means right now." All the while putting on the show that she cared and wasn't delighting in having so much power over him in his days of deterioration.
When I was alone with him, I told him it was okay to give up and let go. He died later that night. And I took comfort in knowing his earthly suffering was ended. Along with her carnival sideshow attraction.
It is your right to feel whatever it is you feel. Be authentic in your grief. Be yourself. Just take comfort in knowing she is no longer suffering, Danny. And that she exited this world with dignity.
