Holiday Pain
When everyone gets together with their families
I’m forced to think about why I don’t have one
The tragedies of the past
That I smother everyday
Are all wrapped up with a bow
Waiting for me on Christmas Day
So I’ll fake a smile
It’s all a show
Like I’m an Angel
In the winter play
Blowing snowflake kisses
To the audience
But my lips are forest bitten
So I hide under my covers
Trying to find warmth
The images of all the happy families
Blend, mash and flash
With the ugly images of my past
The emptiness in my soul
Is the only thing
That’s been with me
Through every holiday
I’m forced to think about why I don’t have one
The tragedies of the past
That I smother everyday
Are all wrapped up with a bow
Waiting for me on Christmas Day
So I’ll fake a smile
It’s all a show
Like I’m an Angel
In the winter play
Blowing snowflake kisses
To the audience
But my lips are forest bitten
So I hide under my covers
Trying to find warmth
The images of all the happy families
Blend, mash and flash
With the ugly images of my past
The emptiness in my soul
Is the only thing
That’s been with me
Through every holiday
