Manifesto: Gandhi Spirit
first they ignore you,
so you raise your voice!
unyielding words, like scalpels
incise through the cozy veil of
ill gained shields of oblivion
raise your hand with unsplintered pestles
and grind your will in liberty mortars
mix it well and make them swallow
a bitter medicine that cures their blind.
then they ridicule you,
you smile,
the ripple has bored
through waxen ears
sweet tunes of freedom
now dance in the air
play your flutes with skill
play them loud and incessantly
till the last of the rats
are drawn out
are cast out
their plague purged and wiped clean.
then they fight you,
you smother that fire
and knock off their matchsticks
their brute, deflected with
steady poise
'timeouts' for the guilty
in grown up cells
tantrums stopped, lost toys found
remotes pried stealthily from childish hands
predators become prey
as balance is regained, sanity found
exhumation of justice
helps humanity resuscitate
to live, to laugh, to grow
and let natures heal.
then you win,
their yokes broken
the hypnosed awaken
nations reborn
from a turbulent gestation
a putrid afterbirth of prejudice
fascism and exploitation
buried six feet deep
in a determination sealed casket
lessons learned,
and for generations
will be well remembered
that tyranny will be washed out by
resilient waves of a conscientious jury.
