What Would Bukowski Say
We’re born into this
a world of lunacy
hypocrisy, greed and blasphemy
stripped of freedom
privacy, dignity and morality
listening to demigods roar;
Long live Icarus, golden glory!
Hatred perpetuates hatred
his rage is our vengeance
denouncing history sleeping in shame
acclimated to the smell painted on graffiti
blood-orange congeals to black
dying for creation in creator’s hand
reliving 1984.
We’re born into this
redefining art of making love
into art of fucking
bored with our minds
hands, lips and hearts
gorging the eyes with insatiable feast
animals immune to the land
the disease under skin.
