An Inquisition

I think I'm in the right condition
Ready to go on a mission
To enlighten everybody everywhere
Of the baggage that they carry under their
Skin, they owe a great debt to absolve their sins
By devils possessed, they have let them in

To save your souls we must strip your will
Surrender to the Lord, you will be fulfilled
Follow our commandments
Forget your past gods and myths
Give up your ways and accept our teaching
You soon will give way to the words that I'm preaching

No more gods of old
No more tales of magic told
No more witchery
No more voodoo stitchery
Denounce your faith or meet the stake
Where tongues of flame leave ash in your wake

Burn all of your fairytales
Let the smoke vanish in air
In generations your culture will be lost
We'll get inside your children's heads, thought holocaust

Brainwashing indoctrination
Respect the flag of our nation
This millennia old text gives clear dictation
On how we must live our lives, fixations
On false idols and magics will meet no toleration
Abstain from all of life's pleasures, don't succumb to temptations
Proclaim you serve our God or be met with decapitation

But the old ways will go on
In the minds and hearts of all
of us hiding 'neath the shadows
Awaiting nature's call
A dozen fried frog legs
Tossed in a cauldron with some eggs
From an albino cobra's nest
They say the yolk holds power, blessed
By ancient deities that survive yet

But as time travels on, they flicker
Like a candle, growing dimmer
Over time the young no longer
Will believe, make magic stronger
Yet I still hold my ground, resilient
I won't give up the fight, a brilliant light
Is calling from beyond, a voice grows louder every day
It speaks to me of days long gone, when they persecuted our "heresy"
They will not be forgotten, those who gave up their lives
To practice their beliefs even knowing that they would die
