when tomorrow said goodbye

a leaf fell
off the tree
straddling the
serpentine river

the ripple
was smothered
by the current
before it could make
the slightest of shimmer

food for thought
for the one
also resting
on the same branch
contemplating
the impact
if any
of his own fall

his tomorrow
had bade its goodbyes

the glare
ultimately
blinded him
it was a sunny day

and
he wanted it
his last
memory
