Creature In The Woods
Who or what is that lingering in the woods?
Those deep and dark eyes look like shadows
Of the trees. All I can hear is their breathing or
Is it just my imagination playing tricks on me?
I can only imagine some beast like creature
Who isn’t a beast, but just a creature who is
All alone. Everyone is only afraid of them like
Little red riding hood is terrified of the big bad
Wolf. So no one thinks that good things come
Out of those woods and into the light. But
What if they want a friend? Maybe they want
Someone to share the darkness with them.
They want someone to realize that they just
Look and act like any other animal in the woods.

I love this especially your mention of little red riding hood and the wolf , and how the animal might well just be lonely and wanting a friend . I like the questions in this what if the animal is just like any other animal what if they are lonely . A great poem )
