Duty
A gentleman can write to me in hope;
Or rather trusting in this fact: he will
Succeed in every quest a knight can scope,
Removing pieces with the certain skill
That helps him remove clothing from a queen,
Or shall we say princess, given my age;
And what will be, will be and will have been:
Another note upon another page
Will be jotted down and be united
With scripts the princess shares; as she chooses
The words will blend; all will be requited;
Including passions, as the knight amuses
And, thus, delivers all his hopes to plan,
As is the duty of a gentleman.
Or rather trusting in this fact: he will
Succeed in every quest a knight can scope,
Removing pieces with the certain skill
That helps him remove clothing from a queen,
Or shall we say princess, given my age;
And what will be, will be and will have been:
Another note upon another page
Will be jotted down and be united
With scripts the princess shares; as she chooses
The words will blend; all will be requited;
Including passions, as the knight amuses
And, thus, delivers all his hopes to plan,
As is the duty of a gentleman.

Too often the duty is seen to fall on the fairer sex alone by those who would not understand duty if it hit them like a wet fish in the face

This has such a perfect blend ... formality ... almost like a legal contract ... but arranged in crisp lines with awesome line breaks ... bravo!

Regrettably the gentleman in question who claimed to be a wordsmith was more a "Can-I-get-into-your-knickers-smith" - sighs

SO, such a difference between a true gentleman and the likes of many others...seduce her mind once gaining the trust and the rest will write itself...

Echo Taryn. Message comes over as 'good lovemaking starts at the writing desk'. Favourite lines:
The words will blend; all will be requited;
Including passions, as the knight amuses
And, thus, delivers all his hopes to plan,
As is the duty of a gentleman.
Your poem reads from another age - with an implicit message 'good sex is the reward of chivalry'.
Also like the picture - a sweet image of the protective gentleman.

Re: Re. Duty
is it so wrong to hark back in hopes that there are still real gentlemen out there?

The picture could be captioned (addressed to the woman) from the Song of Songs, chapter 2 verse 14:
"Show me your face, let me hear your voice, for your voice is sweet and your face is lovely."
"Show me your face, let me hear your voice, for your voice is sweet and your face is lovely."
