My Neighbor's Kitty
My neighbor’s cat comes to visit
I talk to her and she rubs against my legs
Scratching her ears, I make her purr
She gently nibbles my kitty treats.
The neighbor yells over the fence
“Get back here kitty! That ain’t your place”
And then curses me for loving his cat.
He goes inside cursing his cat and me.
Why can’t we share the cat?
He enjoys her, why can’t I?
There is time enough in a day
For both of us to have a turn.
The cat seems happy; so am I
It’s only the neighbor guy who’s not
He could keep her locked inside
But then the cat would not be free.
Is it his possessive jealousy
That makes him unhappy?
Can’t he let his kitty roam
To do as she pleases? It pleases ME.
