Two Prayers

Life
when you invite me in
give me a sword
of tempered steel
and gentle touch
of loving hand
So that
my soul
will be
warrior of love
as without love
strength is nothing
but brute force

Death
when you come for me
make it swift
and unexpected
like a bullet
straight to the heart
so that
when I crush
into the end
there is no struggle
no time left
to hold on
