Sea of Sighs

The girl who can't write poetry
is far too busy
looking after her make up.
Fussing with keystrokes all day
leaves no time for thinking
more important thoughts
so sadly her dreams
go unrecorded.
You could say
she is aspiration-ally dead
like a defunct link
no matter how many times
she clicks on herself
non-appearance is guaranteed
and no-one can tell
at what point she will exhale
hard enough
to collapse the house of cards
she has built
for her head to rest on
as her life floats along
on her sea of sighs
