Black Sick

I’m so black sick.

After every venture out, I’m left lying in a pool of white sick
White mucus on my stationary and my books
White eyes giving beige undertones funny looks

I’m here
Breathing out shadows that could be acceptable on a coconut sky
If only my face weren’t coated in these pecan coloured tears that I cry.

Lying amongst the brickwork, thinking of the Uhuru
White in search of black
- Not wanting pianist layers
Just grey concentrations
Of yesterday’s and tomorrow’s ongoing frustrations.

I’m so black sick.
The only sweetness I want is the brown sugar on my jerk
And the outline of my shadow would do for a light.
In being a fraction of the majority
I’ve been made an even greater minority

An unwelcomed member of the current age sorority.

I’ve told you so many times in so many rhymes
That this is me
You take one quick look with creamy pedestal glee
You may even be expecting an apology
But I’m not about to tell you I’m sorry for not being what you want me to be.

I’m so black sick.
