ideals vs reality
nobody owns nobody
no body owns no body
and that is the ideal
so different than real
so difficult than real
life vs freedom
need vs freedom
greed vs freedom
freedom of self vs freedom of the other
ideals vs reality
these are the battles
that tear me apart
at the heart
every day
every minute
every second
every moment
holding on to of this ideal
costs dearly
much more
than just the
blood
sweat
and tears
but by God
it's worth it
no
not easy
sometimes it stabs at the heart
the battle to preserve
the ideal
like being dragged away
by a semitrailer
with one hand chained to it
and the the other holding on to a sapling
yes
giving up an arm
or your self
your own self
is what it costs
sometimes
and by God
it's worth it!
don't believe me?
try living
free
for a moment!

welcome
is the peer's presence
welcome
is the peer's review & opinion
as well as perspective
as for your advice dear sister,
i refer to the first two lines
"nobody owns nobody
no body owns no body "
how can someone give up on someone else when in both
truth and belief they don't own no one but self?
yes
giving up of self
is what it takes
and trust me, that ain't easy
giving up on your need, greed for selfish reasons
though some may not see those reasons as selfish
and but out of pure love, but in my view
that reason, if it hinders the others' freedom
it is selfish.
everything has to be in free association
out of sheer love and affection
not coercion overt or covert
sometimes in close relationships its
damn hard
not to be carried away by personal need
or greed
or the need for own 'freedoms'.
hope this clears things up!

Nicely rendered , Cold Fusion !
I especially love this phrase :
"like being dragged away
by a semitrailer
with one hand chained to it
and the the other holding on to a sapling"
I have lived my life , since I was a teen ,
after reading Dune by Frank Herbert in
Analog magazine , 65 / 66 , as a "Free Man" ;
After that , I rebelled against parents , church , government ,
never went to college because I did not want to become
programmed , went on the road for many years , hitching
around the U.S. , living in alternative communities , or by
myself in the woods , did not have debts , and basically
lived a life rejecting status quo...
I am about to go purposefully homeless for awhile now ,
( selling my place ) and I am 63 , because I want that sense
of freedom and adventure again...( 8 years of being tied down )
I have always as well , loved and lived the phrase :
" I would rather die on my feet , than live on my knees " !
It is truly , IMO , the only way to live...;)

Welcome
is the peer admired
welcome
is the friend!!
welcome also
is the insight and light shed on the scribble
and your sharing of such personal experience.
All is much appreciated and valued deeply.
admiration and respect for the resolve
and determination to hold on
and do the walk thing dear friend
and that is as my much admired friend Amorous_Tryst has so very well stated here below, a rare example and closest one can get to absolute freedom.
in my opinion
haven't come across a better live example
of what this scribble states
it takes more than blood
sweat and tears!
much humbled
by the appreciation
and presence.

After reading your words here, I am even more proud to call you a friend, for I feel you have penned the essences of true freedom.
When one contemplates the different degrees of freedom it boggles the mind, for they run the gamut from living a nomads life to being imprisoned. I believe it's a matter of perspective, as to how free we feel we are. Even a hermit living in the woods is only as free as his requirements and wishes allow him to be, (that, I feel, being the upmost freedom anyone can accomplish). From there the degree of freedom shrinks.
Each degree of freedom is determined by the choices we make, single, married, children, material possessions we desire, etc, etc., and with each added item, the honest person, (not in truth, but in doing what is required), agrees to take on the responsibilities associated with those choices, and those responsibilities limit the degree of freedom we have.
Even if enslaved, one has the freedom to either accept or fight.
If one reflects on what the world would be like if everyone chose to shirk their responsibility to humanity and instead just do as they pleased,............well, that's a world I do not wish to live in, for we would be even more animalist prey and predator.
I truly believe the only real freedom any of us have is the freedom of choice, and we should be thankful the majority of us have chosen to live only as free as our minds and hearts allow us to.
It is my sincere wish that those who read your words here grasp what I feel is your meaning behind them or at the least, what I have taken from it.

Welcome
is the Friend Admired!!
Welcome
is the Kindred Spirit!
indeed an honor
and blessing
the Friendship dear Teri!!
this scribble
nothing but laid bare
the struggles
holding onto one's ideals.
the concept of freedom
especially personal freedom
and rights
especially of humans over others
have been subjects
that are pretty close to my heart
and have kept me occupied ever since
i became mature enough to dwell on them
as they say no pain no gain
with anything
obviously with freedom
it's no different.
the tug of wars
when sticking to the ideals
and its effects
are not only not easy on the heart
but also on the life itself
but
being ultimately
at peace with the conscience
for doing so
is what makes it worth it.
easy to forget
do unto others as you would unto self
and crush others' freedoms whilst satisfying personal
need and being greedy about personal freedoms and needs
and sometimes in life it becomes harder to not be a violator than
to exercise restraint.
and this is where the holding onto the ideals hurts
the most,
you know it will hurt you but you have to sometimes more than
swallow your pride
and that some may say sucks..
but is worth it
hence the lines...not easy..takes more than.,,,
yes...you hit the nail on the head there my Friend- re even when enslaved one has the freedom of choice- i.e
the moment you stand up to tyranny and not accept it in your heart...is the moment you're free.
at the end of the day
the freedoms we cherish are obviously not the absolute ones
just the relative ones.
there's another scribble in the drafts for some time now... on same subject, will probably post it in the near future.
most important thing i would like to clarify is
freedom does mean independence
but "INDEPENDENCE DOES NOT MEAN ISOLATION"
i hope the last phrase above is self explanatory and if we dwell hard on it, would make the above scribble much clearer!
my friend you have utterly humbled and honored me at the same time!!
appreciation

Dear Artist!!
i welcome
both
your presence
as well as your kind and generous review
my Friend!!
indeed an honor! the above!
and humbled as well i am!!
i do though, disagree about the greatness though! ;-)
my goodness!! the profundity of your review
"I often feel independence and freedom are polar opposites. One allows you to live in the hate/love, transactional ways of the world. Manipulating as we are manipulated. Freedom, living for the well being of self, by not trying to influence anyone else."
this, the above quote- is something to behold...like you've squeezed out a book into a few lines there!! and yet you call my work great dear Rose??
welcome is the greatness on my page i say!!
appreciate all
beyond words...
and deeds!

i oft repeat the word humbled, but trust me, that is exactly how i feel when i see the freinds say what they say!!
