Scarlet Letters
Eggshells under fingernails
A dormant itch,
The desire to rebel...
To rape virgin adventure
Suckle on risque udders,
And seek galaxy peaks
To blush in a rash of pleasure,
With Sirens & danger...
Spare the rod,spoil the child
Apologies regretted yes,
Riddle of reason mild
Spare truth rather,
Oblivion & Denial sopped to a lather...
Crush the baby ivory
Immature pearls once decorated the Den of Insolence,
A gaudy gate for a conscience
Caged in a Colgate cemetery.

Under the beautiful swirl of words I also sense sorrows confusing tragedy. Such haunting of depths dark, sadly, I love the disturb of dark peeking between the words, excellent write dear friend, much love much respect,

Not sure if the title is a reference to The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne, but to me the context of this poem seems to tie very neatly into the themes of said novel.

I feel a lot of personal significance here, like I stumbled into a beautiful, but dark grotto. Nice work!

This is open to multiple interpretations, seems to me, including a touch of "The Scarlet Letter." The imagery is fascinating. "A Colgate cemetary" could be a deadly smile. Really enjoyed, and will have to read a few more times...
