you think
scorched earth
would mean
scorched earth
not a remnant
of me
right?
you think
the scorching would
incinerate
annihilate
decimate
terminate
me?
think again
it is
in fact
what my seeds
need
to breed
yes
this very fire
intense and hot
burning the bush
burning the lot
that you thought
would wipe me out?
no chance
zilch
nada
that anything
would survive?
think again
the seeds of mine
you just woke 'em up
this carbon black
was only what
the soil lacked
after the burn
will come the rain
the lush green
you'd barely seen
'be back again
the new growth
is days away
rejuvenation
was in the (fire)works
thank you
dear blaze
i know
it is a case of
dejavu
for you
did your job
though couldn't rob
me
of me
for
i
am
l i f e!
i begin
where you end
always.
Author's Note
Just a few reflections...inspiration, as the images display the defiance, the regrowth of life. The images are of the aftermath of a forest fire/bushfire/brush fire by the coast. One would think the flora would be dead after the intense fire, but nope, as the bottom part of the image shows, it- the Life is back with full ferocity, the rejuvenation of and by an apparent annihilating incineration.

welcome
is the Poet Admired!!
welcome
is the Friend and his review generous!
they say the origins of early life
lay next the the volcanic vents and their near boiling hot springs. So if one presumes fire wipes out life, well, if at all, it aids it in the long run. That was the attempt here. And, don't they say Earth was a bit of blaze that blew away from the sun?
welcome and appreciate immensely
the presence of the poer admired and the generous review!!

Fire.........one of natures equalizers.
Like rain, wind and sun,
it can not take without giving back,
giving all the same opportunity
to live.
Love the picture(s) combined to show
the aftermath directly and with time.
The poem, as beautiful as the photos,
captured with the eye and the mind.

is the kindred spirit!
yes...elements, they cannot help but create, though
their acts in full force might appear otherwise!
some wise words my friend...shedding light on the fact that I never thought about!! much gratitude!!
re the pictures...past experience has taught me the images if they're more than 600 X 800 pixels they won't load. Hence the cropping and combining. Apologies for the lack of depth in the images(pixelated when zoomed )
Glad...elated..small words to express the joy
for the friends' presence!!
appreciation!!
immense!

Re. i a m l i f e
First, thanx for the info on pic size, hasn't got me so far, hopefully now still won't. I love the, no pun intended, firey passion, resilience of survival snatching back control, and your picture brings greater depth, rounding it all out. Excellent work C-F, definitely a thought provoked. Much love Deep Respect,

The ancient ones have been back burning for aeons to maintain Mother Earth.
The analogy is no different for ones soul, as you’ve conveyed.
Regeneration, is critical for growth and your spirit emerges strongly throughout this metaphorical piece.
Bravo, dear Sir...

apologies for the delay in gratitude dear friend!
yes... same here, the first people of this ancient land too been doing and still do the same- backburning both for maintenance i.e. keeping the risks of fires low as well as to replenish/rejuvinate the land. I wish someone told the same to the fire authorities in some of the States in the US and make them drop their adversarial and military approach to tackling brushfires!
And yes...bull's eye re your insight about the relevance of analogy to one's soul. I doubt, including myself, many would be ready to go through that painful process!!
humbled...deeply so for the review and insight shed on this scribble dear Poet!!
appreciation of the visit

it's nature.
[and it's ] her nature, the defiance.
and who doesn't love nature?
