Façade
From my own affliction, I may come to know yours
aware of what remains, behind closed doors
in solitude, we cling to our despair
donning a façade, others unaware
calm persona, hiding a tumultuous soul
reinforcing walls, shielding loss of control
burying our pain, shame, guilt and fear
protecting all those, who we hold dear
believing unloved, self-worth malformed
unable to trust, connection unformed
wearing our cladding, feigning strong
numbing our emotions as we move along

This can often be the way with us humans, masking the reality of how we feel, for the sake of a smoother ride. In the long run, we pay for that facade.
