Graveyard

When the clouds part
to reveal darker overcast
and the dim
flesh tone streetlights
off beyond the treelined fence
that surrounds this sanctuary of the dead,
defended from the living or optimistic,
sparkle and glisten as the cricket’s chirp
and squirrels purr in their steady slumber.

Momentary Peace arises within me.
