What Loneliness Feels Like
Have you ever just felt like your entire world just crumbled down to nothing?
It’s like the little stump of scented wax finally dissipated
Into the small, metallic sconce of your favourite candle.
You begin to reminisce and reflect;
Looking back on the memories of that beloved candle
How on the gloomy, rainy days
You would kneel next to the windowsill and watch
The wax drip down the candle, slowly cooling
As it runs down to the holding plate
But the candle is now gone, and it cannot be replaced
For the memories of that object are never going to be experienced again.
Your only desire
Is to see that comforting candle burn bright in the windowsill
On the darkest and gloomiest nights.
To watch its once lively flame
Flicker once more.
But you can’t turn back the time to relive the memories you shared.
So you just sit back and miss that oh so beloved candle.
That’s what loneliness feels like.
