On Main Street

A clutter of buildings
Perched on hills and sidewalk bends
Overseen by century old steeples
Still whispering rustic hymns

Through the collection of antique deer paths
Stretching out a little wider now
Catering the iron cages rolling through concrete foliage

Casting an artificial shade over the mulched forest floor
Stamped down by construction plagued summers
Replacing grassy pasture with asphalt fissures

Another layer of paint to an ever changing canvas
Patch work repairs on a tangible landscape
Waiting to reclaim its former beauty
Or be re packaged again into another comfortable habitat
