THE WINGED VERSE
THE WINGED VERSE
You are the steed that takes me far:
On earth, in space, or near the star.
No science fiction l write here,
But verse and its rhyme are my sphere.
I like to fly. What can l do?
My wings are short, nowhere can go.
Shall l stay where my land is bare
Or fly with verse where none can dare?
I float on oceans and the seas
And ride among the forest trees.
Sometimes, l probe the people's hearts
And share their secrets in those parts.
On such odd trips, none can compete.
They have no means and they retreat,
But verse can take me far away
Where no one can retrace my way.
