not all warriors come clad in armour
sifting through the supermarket aisles
their eyes collide
followed immidiately
by the briefest of a pause
then a mutual smirk and a brief smile
no exchange of words
or waving of hands
as they pass each other
the two women
nothing out of ordinary
to the naked eye
little does anyone know
that true warriors
don't come clad in armour
nor do they carry any
fancy weapons or go around
in fancy costumes
their armour
is the invisible one
their unrivaled power
lay in their capacity
to deal with adversity
their strength beyond human
hidden behind walls of tears
and soft and caring hands
one was a demon slayer
who had just moved a mountain
after conquering it
single handedly
the other had slayed
the beast that claimed
to be her owner
for over a decade
these were just their
latest feats
for both had fought and won
many times
wounded
bloodied
bruised
held captive
broke free
took control
and back to the battlefields
that are their lives
little did the bald comic fanatic
flipping through the books & cd's section
mulling over which Marvel superhero movie to buy
know
that two real life warriors
just crossed paths behind his
oblivious arse
and prior to that
infront of his fantasy seeking eyes!

"little does anyone know

So very true, my friend, I, as you,
know a few of these true warriors,
have had the pleasure to be in
their presents, and watched them
do battle with no expectation of compensation,
and little appreciation, just doing what life
demands to the upmost of their ability.
A much deserved tribute to their endurance
while facing their tribulations.
Wonderful message you've penned here.

welcome
is the Poet Admired
Welcome is the Friend so Dear!
well, all i'd say
is this ink is but what
the eyes saw
the heart felt
and the mind conveyed
and you my wise friend,
as usual,
nonchalantly conveyed what i could not
i.e.
"do battle with no expectation of compensation,
and little appreciation, just doing what life
demands to the upmost of their ability"
yes!! no wonder their uncorrupted
altruism
be it in the light of their unconditional love
or just defending in the battles they find themselves in
is what shines brightest and separates them
from the ordinary!
but for us as inkers, it's hard not to say
what is observed and seen so vividly!
a tribute or an ode is but an honor for the scribble for it merely depicts what's there!
deep and immense
the appreciation
for the peer's visit
and the in-depth insight shared with all!

hello cold fusion, I admire the creativity of your words. I really like the story you told in this piece., and the truth flowing throughout. so true, real warriors are hiding under the surface. strength is within, within the ability to overcome, fight, win. despite the obstacles. i love how you started this poem .. two women smiling at each other, I get the sense of them both sensing each others warrior status lol. so true, real warriors are real people who win fights. i love your ending .. '' oblivious arse '' '' fantasy seeking eye's '' so interested in finding warriors in fiction books , that we fail to see the real life warriors you have some very good wording here, i was hooked till the last line, this made for a very engaging and enjoyable read..

welcome
dear peer
firstly to the community
that is DU
as well as
to the scribble that is this page.
humbled and honored at the same time
for the visit and the appreciation.
more than glad, the ink conveyed
what this mind and heart observed and felt, all along- that superheroes and super-humans don't come clad in armour or flashy costumes. They're all around us.
I say we don't need to go too far to find one, one who's done something extra-ordinary and utterly unfathomable to us.
some real life inspirations behind this ink made it what it is. In all honesty, to me, this work is but stating the obvious. As i write this, they- the warriors are taking on the disgruntled beasts out there, beasts who know not that not all warriors come clad in armour, or present an image that projects superficial strengths.
welcome once again
is the in-depth review, the deep insight.
appreciate beyond words
all.

thankyou! :-) you are welcome ..
yes, the beasts could be mental health problems, inner struggles, pain, obstacles.. i understand. a real warrior is a real warrior within, an outer shell, outer appearance does not always equate to a warrior. its the strength within which matters

yes. exactly. you summed it up pretty well there!
indeed, it's the strength within that matters! and these warriors epitomise that!

What is a true warrior indeed the battles where there is no glory to be had are often the hardest and greatest battles of all. Great piece

Such an excellent poem CF; and on so many levels. Warriors and Angels walk this planet, invisible to most.
