Complexly Simple

 I need to simplify
I am a complex being,
of my own choosing
Simplicity is the key, though
Just an educated simplicity

In the simplest of things,
they are quite complex
at the atomic
and subatomic levels.
Matter is space,
space holds matter together,
but then you come out
and look at the bigger picture
and it’s something simple
Simplicity
filled with
a complex nature

We see simply,
most of the time.
That’s what it means
to be individual people,
involved
in the beingness of personhood.

We are trapped
within our own points of view,
“island universes unto ourselves”.
We are all just trying to connect,
but we can’t step outside
of our own points of view
to see the bigger picture,
as it unfolds beneath our eyes.
Because we are all caught
in this tunnel vision.

It’s like the horse
with the blinders on.
We teach them to look forward.
Eyes on the prize,
don’t stray from your goal.
We are taught to be this way,
act this way,
look at the world
in a narrow minded way
We are taught
to be the finish line
