stardust
she found herself in an ocean,
filled with thoughts and dreams,
such a beautiful yet lonely place,
her eyes drawn to the night sky,
as if the darkness had called upon her and whispered her name,
hypnotized by the stars,
she began to wonder,
if the stars get lonely too,
light years away from one another,
burning without a purpose,
she asked herself ‘are the stars the same as me?’
are they just there for others to see?
Not to comfort in times of sorrow,
Will they fade before tomorrow?
Or do they exist to shed their light?
On a world that finds beauty within the night
She came to realise she was a speck of dust,
Entwined between the earth and its crust
Floating though time and space
Only temporary was her face
Made from stardust, passing through,
Just like the fading piece of light that caught her eye
Two of the same, one of a kind
A tiny wonder of the universe,
And she, another drop in the ocean.
