Valentine’s Day – Not Just For the Lovers
Valentine’s Day is for the lovers with flowers
And chocolate, but what about the lonely ones?
It is like God has stripped them of their powers
To get that love in return. He or she outruns
That possibility because they only want what
Others have, a chance of happiness. When they
Think no one would love them like that, their gut
Bottoms out because as much as they hope and pray
For a strong love. Someone out there is going to stay.

Wow! Your poem reminds me of my HS days....
I remember when my friends would receive flowers and balloons, BIG stuffed bears and they'd "parade" through the school hallways lugging around with their gifts at Valentine's Day...and I was empty-handed with a mind full of dreamy wishes....
I decided to change that once I grew older. On Valentine's Day, I'd purchase STUFFED BEARS IN A CUP (by the dozens for girls) and CANDY BARS (by the case for boys)...and on Valentine's Day, I made it a tradition to distribute them to EVERY STUDENT (from my old HS) who would accept them (FREE OF CHARGE, OF COURSE), I just didn't want them to feel the same "loneliness" of NOT having a gift "to parade" for Valentine's Day. I couldn't distribute to the WHOLE school, (with my limited budget), but I bought AS MUCH AS I COULD and targeted AS MUCH STUDENTS I possibly COULD....as they entered the school. Their smiles: A PRICELESS treasure!

Valentine's Day is Love Day. ❤ That includes friends and family. And while I love them every day, I still like to use V-Day to honor and celebrate them. Much like a birthday. 🎂🎈
