Middle Finger
Darkness reigns as I rise,
coffee brewed is a must,
pain a constant companion,
something just to cut the dust.
Joints ache with every movement,
legacy of multiple decompressions,
stretch and twist out the worst,
part of my daily evolutions.
Fifty years have I been around,
hard work is a daily thing,
life has not been easy on me,
but I do not hide it with bling.
Uncle Sam had his turn with my life,
interesting places and people to see,
civilian life was not any easier,
life has many dangers you will agree.
Before I know it my time will come,
not all of my life has been fair,
I will face it like Kid Rock says,
“Waving my middle finger in the air.”
