Sold Out

You had barely started crawling
When your stubbornness appeared
Though I stood up to your bawling
I could not stop the thing I feared

I just wanted you to pay attention
To submit to the natural order of things
Tragically despite my best intention
I could not undo what your internal order brings

You cannot seem to grasp what you are paying
To possess whatever becomes your obsession
For these teenage games you're now playing
You've cashed in your most prized possession

The community of your family life
Exchanged for a politician's culture
Kin respect for a dog eat dog life
What do you expect of your future?
