My Reflection Speaks
As I sit on my bed looking at the mirror
My reflection speaks to me
It speaks of wonderous days and endless nights
Of parallel universes and time travel in future years.
A universe that promises to be oh so very extraordinary!
Visions fill my head of streets ladened with mutants and robots
Times of change, old customs to bury.
Communications, ray guns, ZOOM! much faster than that
Mind control, telekinesis, thoughts able to explore our abilities
Of superhuman, supercharged forces that test humans in seconds flat.
To be able to travel between dimensions
Change time to suit our predictions
Build families with immaculate conceptions.
My eyes refocused on the mirror where my thoughts had been
How strange and exciting the future would be!
My heart leaped at the adventures I had seen.
Adventures where humans would live a longer life span, and
Grandma and Grandpa would be rolling over in their graves
If they could live in this astonishing, extraterrestrial, universal kind of land.
