Tonight
Tonight was like any other
Nothing stood out
Just the quiet passage of time
Each clock tick quicker than the last
Yet the day crawls
Tonight was as empty as the rest
Masturbatory habits
Self serving with little result
A distraction at its very best
From these closing walls
Tonight there plays a familiar song
One tied to distant memory
Of joyous days forgotten
Long before the mind took over
When heart took the wheel
Tonight I need to feel you
If nothing else so I can feel at all
So it's back to the past I go
Because there's no tangible future
Time doesn't always heal
Nothing stood out
Just the quiet passage of time
Each clock tick quicker than the last
Yet the day crawls
Tonight was as empty as the rest
Masturbatory habits
Self serving with little result
A distraction at its very best
From these closing walls
Tonight there plays a familiar song
One tied to distant memory
Of joyous days forgotten
Long before the mind took over
When heart took the wheel
Tonight I need to feel you
If nothing else so I can feel at all
So it's back to the past I go
Because there's no tangible future
Time doesn't always heal
