Her Own Woman

The beauty stood about five foot five
Soaking wet she weighed 125
She was gorgeous and no other could compare
Her hair was long and flowing
She lived in a beautiful home upon the hill
No man to hunt for her except herself
For she was her own woman
Around her,  blossoms bloomed and trees kept growing
She could fish and skin a bear
Her daddy had taught her all that she knew
From the time she was little, even as she grew
No one could tame her, she learned by answered questions
There was no harm in asking
How would you know when times got bad
If it was time to cut the wood hard?
Or leave it to season a year or two?
And is it for naught to know how to serve your man?
She learned everything by reading and asking or by her hand
There was none like her and she didn't care what anyone thought
She loved to learn and was self taught
She could speak different languages and
Could cook better than most
She was neither proud nor loved to boast
She was her own woman, no man was worthy enough.
