Selflessness
The war is back and the dams are open to flood the land
No matter how much the iron gates are barred
It’s like a dark cloud hovers around and leaves just to get lunch
A war in the land of the mourners
Fighting for personal freedom and fighting for others
But growing up, we were told to put others first
The resentment for thinking of yourself lurks in the shadows
When the others wear matching frowns
And condemn your existence with no regard
Why you flood your land for those that walk on dry ground?
Why you walk like empty shells with duties to let others feel whole?
When not once will they look your way and consider your hole
Why you kill your soldiers just to let the sun smile for another self?
You fool! In the end, no one will be there for you - not even yourself
