The Lady In The Photograph IV
When I was a child I got little respite
I had a collection of Hollywood Movie
Stars- John Wayne, Richard Widmark
Robert Mitchum, Charlton Heston (God)
I had an innocent fondness for Sophia
Loren, Audrey Hepburn, Marlyn Munroe:
Photographic dreams to me that helped
I also used to go to the kid’s club movies
On a Saturday morning if there was enough
Money left after the alcohol was purchased
I used to sit wide eyed and wide mouthed
Champion the Wonder Horse, the Green Hornet
Flash Gordon in weekly matinee form each
A nail biting, cliff-hanger ending till next week
All my Heroes I worshiped and adored all
From the comfort of a chair
Here I am, always in the discomfort of my chair
Now with a new hero arrives on the scene in
Photographs, movies and streaming live discussion
One to one: Certainly not what I had envisaged
As a small boy; I could ever have had such a
Contact even better than that of a Hollywood Star on
The silver screen of fan photographs
She started out life for me as The Lady in the Photograph
Then the happier Lady in the Photograph, some time
Later the Lady of messages and text, audio recordings
More photographs, video recordings and one to one live
Chats on full screen as I moved from liking, admiring,
Being impressed by, loving as a friend, loving with passion
And trembling, loving wondering, loving bewildered
Loving as mutual lovers, being in love, being so in love
Worshiping and adoring as one would do a Goddess
In some ways it is a tragedy having had waited all these
Years it would come along now; when I am more problem
Than man: Such is my luck or meant to be cruel fate.
The Lady in the Photograph has become more beautiful
With every transition, every animation, every word
And I know deep within my heart
I will love her until the end of my days
