The Lonely Highway

Wish I could fly to you
but what if there is no other choice
Driving my budget vehicle
with a compact backpack
and a navy-blue notebook
I traverse
from the earth to universe
from Taiwan to Venus

I promised that
never let you shed a tear
therefore, I put my car in gear
The view outside fades away
images of you come my way
memories, passions, loneliness
running along the highway

This highway has been frosty
Athens, Dallas, Los Angeles
it’s snowing in every city
At a strange spine-biting street
my shaking hand spilt a hot coffee
left a scarlet scar on my knee

I am like Saint-Exupery and the Little Prince
looking for some precious faiths
somewhere beyond the extreme
something lies in my dream
I know they are in you
and I believe it's true

I am like an ancient pilgrim
across the Arabian Desert
A believer who forgot beliefs after birth
bleeding one’s knees
staggering through the journey
strewn with glass pieces
to reach the sacred place

On the lonely highway
somewhere, still far way
moonshine, sunrise, sunset
It’s snowing at every station
I am wondering
you must be my destination
