Release is welcome
In this flesh
This vile flesh
Rotting before death
These bars are eternal
No, no the sun isn't there
No, no mortal soul will dare
Insert the key
The key to freedom
Another body
More decor
Another number
Another headline
In my headspace
I'll not conceal it
Nor my longsuffering
From the cage
Of endless graves
Flight is impossible
The sky is too low
The sky is too grey
It is neither night
Nor day
In the cage
This cage
Where all has died
Yes even my rage
All the day long
A bird emotionless
A bird of tireless song.

Sometimes you have to rise above and feel the sun on your face, enjoy the simplicity of just living and breathing without thoughts or cares. A cage, physical, mental or otherwise is never a good place to live. A talented write as always, anonshadow.

I enjoyed the variety and expression in this piece, I especially liked the ending verse: "All the day long
