Colors pts. 4 On the Island
On the Island
The island that surrounds me is filled with yellow sand.
My fortress is situated right on top of it and it’s starting to look very grand.
I’m surrounded by plentiful vegetation that provides me with needed food.
Green is a color that helps my confidence begin to grow and renew
my faith in myself that I can survive on this island long term.
I just have to maintain believe in myself and remain firm
In my hard-working ways to get my new home a prosperous place to dwell.
Despite being stranded alone on an island, maybe I am doing well.
There is a small lake located in the middle of the island.
The first time I laid my eyes on it, I couldn’t stop smiling.
The clam blue lake is filled with fish for me to catch and eat.
I slice them up, fry them up over the fire and have fresh meat to eat.
Small animals also roam about the island.
I often hunt them and kill them since they aren’t very quick on their feet.
They are also another source of meat that the island provides for me.
The first time I cooked up a little critter, my face lit up with a smile of glee.
I am a carnivore you see, a man who really enjoys his meats.
I will continue to hunt and fish so I have enough good food for me to continue to eat.
Despite my good fortune and overall good state on the island,
I take shake the feeling that the islands other inhabitant is still lurking nearby.
I see him in my dreams and wake up expecting him to be standing over me.
I keep having nightmares of a noose hanging from a tree.
Maybe I’m being paranoid, but that man’s presence still lurks over me.
I’m sure he’s around here lurking and keeping an eye on me to a certain degree
But always being worried about him isn’t how I want myself to be.
I should convince myself he left the island by hitching a ride on a manatee.
Until I see him again, I can convince myself it’s true.
I can convince myself he’s dead and that his skin has turned a dark blue.
Yes, yes that is it!
He is either dead or he split.
Yes, I will go with that.
It’s time to lie back down and take a nap.
Hopefully no more nightmares will startle me awake.
I want to be fresh and well rested the next time I wake.
