Pushing perception past the breaking point

Green hedge bushes
trimmed
square
wrapped with a ribbion
to look like a bow on a present
under the Christmas tree

the squeak in my shoes
and black lamp posts
accompany me home once again

white
green
and red flashing lights
wires

bulbs
burning into the night
appear in the neighborhood
Douglas fir's
Pine trees
top cars
like cakes and icing
all the way home

the silverbell tree still grows
on the corner of Gill Ave
and luttrell st.

a family of vampires lives up the street
on Elenor
i've never saw them during the day
nor in the cover of night
a tree fell in their yard months ago
i imagine they've not cut it up because
they can't use a chainsaw at night
city ordinance (i've not asked about they're vampire policies
but it's a pretty open minded place so i don't think they'll care.)

cloud and stardust in a line
shoot across the sky from jetliners
peeling back the cumulus

George Barber style houses
still stand years later
