I never meant to waste your time
I only wanted to be part of your life
Twice, the abruptness, overwhelmed with foreboding
Guess it turns out, it was only me hoping
Wishing on a star - for a little of your time – if only a minute…
I fear I am left wondering – was the heart really in it?
Now, only echoes of words once spoken
Leaves me helpless, mixed-up, and alas, heartbroken
Immediate silence, no rhyme and no reason
Another confusing day slips away with the seasons
The damaging hurt of silence
I suppose I never needed guidance
To fully accept and understand
Life never guaranteed future plans
Somehow, I thought, no matter how busy things seem
Time could be found to say hello, make just a minute for me
I guess that is how life sometimes plays out
But always know I love you – guaranteed – without a doubt.
