Save For One
Woodworker's Son;
Did they know that you
would snag so much more
than splinters in Your palms?
& how You
could lift shards
from our hearts
without shredding them apart
Would I see
the gaping gulf
& the uselessness
of lumber bridges
where attempts in timber
save for one
tumble into slivers?
Could I begin to try
through the planks
& sawdust
scales upon my eyes?
I'd only hack my limbs away
Your peroxide remedies - must precede
splashing bleach against
such steadfast
rosin stains
