Sacred Contracts XXXVI: Giving
The Universe spins Us
favorably from yesterday
to a future of modern Poetry
Discarding end-stopped lines
opening higher harmonics to
an anatomy of free-versed bone
We've trod syntactical fragments
maneuvering impossibile nouns
Resisted extraneous adjectives
draining strength from sounds
We look beyond glass houses
into space between our stars
a black depth interfacing
the double-helix of two lives
I've absorbed more watching You
than listening to others showed
I've found Truth in your actions
over lies in their promised vows
The one thing I've learned
the biggest Truth of all, is that
beauty isn't in perfect health
nor provisional for Love
But upon the deathbed of a stray
which tests our heart in Faith
As the poor widow who gave
those two measly mites
sacrificing all she had
for the greater good of Life
Not for any potential return
but to merely Love instead
as You giving all you have
to strays without a chance
But what you may not realize
in your sole quest to provide
is not all strays are animals
but humans, such as I
who learned to Trust once again
through your willing sacrifice
not for any potential return
but to merely Love instead
~
For J . . . the most compassionate man I've ever
known or will Love and Trust in this Lifetime 💜
