But A Ghost

I give you the power to destroy me without hesitation in thought or hand to hand.

I slipped the melodies beating me life in your chest with the notion it would be kept safely there.

Forgot and forgave the past's wounds, stitching them up to scar and fade to live a life with you untouched by the lies we told each other while our minds slipped further and further away.

I don't want to feel you slipping from my grasp, pulling my breath from my lungs leaving me gasping in your leaving.

I fear your mind remaining troubled will be our undoing if you can not control your train of thought.

Everything you ever wanted is yours and yours alone if you can only bare to carry it without the past ever present screaming its paranoia from your shoulder.

We can not carry with us the baggage of days we failed each other, but only the moments we prevailed.

We are destined to be or not to be, should I have to walk alone,
I without you simply walk
unseen,
unheard;
I without your arms
am but...

A ghost.
