LOVE OF MY LIFE, I COME
(With apologies to author of the hymn, "O Lamb of God, I come", to whose tune it could also be sung.)
Just as I am, without one plea
For my Adam-like nudity
But warmth of love you have for me,
Love of my life, I come.
Just as I am, without a clout,
What clothes we wore now strewn about.
Desires within now come without.
Love of my life, I come.
Just I am you shall receive
Me, as to each other we cleave.
Your wedding promise I believe,
Love of my life, I come.
Just as I am (the love we own
Has broken every barrier down),
I shall be yours, and yours alone.
Love of my life I come.
Just as I am, without one plea
For my Adam-like nudity
But warmth of love you have for me,
Love of my life, I come.
Just as I am, without a clout,
What clothes we wore now strewn about.
Desires within now come without.
Love of my life, I come.
Just I am you shall receive
Me, as to each other we cleave.
Your wedding promise I believe,
Love of my life, I come.
Just as I am (the love we own
Has broken every barrier down),
I shall be yours, and yours alone.
Love of my life I come.
