Planet-mates

 
They've landed
Don't panic...
They are not green
although they are shorter than we are
but they have two heads not one
so they are probably better
in most of their thinking departments
 
It may take some time
for us to get to know our new planet-mates properly
and I wonder how it will feel
sharing a world together
because even though they are less numerous than us
you couldn't miss them
 
They say we'll need another name for the Earth
because our world is mostly water anyway
It's a question of maintaining accurate standards
for intergalactic signposting
as apparently you can't put up anything misleading

In their language the word Earth
is unpronounceable
I expect they'll be teaching that in schools soon
I wonder what they're going to call it
 
And I have just heard
they have politely requested  
with immediate effect
and for the safety of all parties concerned
that our automobile use
should be limited to one day per week
until their new teleportation facility
is up and running
which means I'll probably never
get to sell my wagon after all.
