Utopia
If we could eliminate money and
If we could give everyone a happy home and
If we could give up material possessions and
If we could end bullying
If we could stop killing and
If we could let go of lust
If we could prevent rape and
If we could all just get along and
If we could eliminate prisons and
If we could grow food to eat and share and
If we could agree on morality and gods and
If we could let go of control over society and
If we could let go of the thirst for authority and
If we had no boarders and no walls along them and
If we had no need for all of these things and
If we really wanted equality then
we could garden in Eden growing
Unity between you and me and
Tranquility within heart and soul and
Oppression would be an obscenity and
Peace would simply be a reality and
Ideology would be a forgotten memory and
Arcadia would no longer be mythology
and Utopia would be and
We could wake up from the dream
If we could give everyone a happy home and
If we could give up material possessions and
If we could end bullying
If we could stop killing and
If we could let go of lust
If we could prevent rape and
If we could all just get along and
If we could eliminate prisons and
If we could grow food to eat and share and
If we could agree on morality and gods and
If we could let go of control over society and
If we could let go of the thirst for authority and
If we had no boarders and no walls along them and
If we had no need for all of these things and
If we really wanted equality then
we could garden in Eden growing
Unity between you and me and
Tranquility within heart and soul and

The governments of each nation have monopolised their citizens, there's no doubt about that as the inequities are evidence of such.
So. Get in line, and play the part... like all the other zombies that do not resist conformity.
Mind you, misery will be the price you pay for such resistance. 😵🤐🔫

I was watching Star Trek, thinking about how wonderful it would be if we all did our part without expectations of a pay-check or greed to have more than others and no need for money... what a wonderful world it would be. "You may say I'm a dreamer but I'm not the only one..." JL JJ

Makes me think of "imagine" by John Lennon ... my Mom played it all the time while I was growing up

I just quoted "Imagine" in my first reply above. John Lennon is why I write poetry... Thank you for commenting1 JJ

Re. Utopia
JJ, What wonderful thoughts you have placed here. Too bad this may never be as long as there are those that think they deserve more because of their efforts or those who feel superior to others due to their own convictions.
Bless you for your feelings though.

Thank you for your wise and compassionate words Teri! Others more influential than I have tried to change the world and made ripples in the water, but after their storm passed a tsunami washed away the hopes and dreams they sparked in our hearts... JJ

dearest JJ I want to live in this utopia sigh
but if we bring the masses they will just trample
the delicate flowers of peace just like here..
it is a wonderful thought like a warm summer rain..
beautiful..

So long as the seeds of greed, fear and pride are planted in the hearts of humans, the weeding will fail the save the garden... Thank you for commenting Raven! JJ

As Sir Thomas Moore wrote in 1515, Utopia is a thought that crosses everyone's mind, but then it is realized that a Utopian society is impossible to achieve, because it requires perfection.
We, as humans, are anything but perfect. Through ethics, we try to gain wisdom to become a "good earthling" (as my philosophy professor likes to say), but education can only do so much. A perfect society cannot be built because separation will always occur.
Fantastic write! If only!
